VFW Post 10212 Attends And Supports The Belen Jesuit Preparatory School Wall of Martyr's Ceremony


Blue and gold are the colors of the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School an all male Roman Catholic which was established in Havana, Cuba by the Jesuits in 1854, but moved to Miami, Florida after the communist government of Fidel Castro, himself and alumnus, took power and expelled the Jesuits. The name Belen is Spanish for "Bethlehem"

VFW Post 10212 Supports Miami, Florida Based, May 2017 Honor Flight Operations From Miami To Washington, D.C., In Support Of Our South Florida Veterans

May 2017 Honor Flight from Miami to Washington D.C. back to Miami, Florida all in the same day was provided by Miami Air. The Veterans flew a Boeing 737-800 narrow body transport aircraft

VFW Post 10212 Reports: VFW Post 10212 supporting Honor Flight 2017 launched from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Baltimore International Airport (BWI) in taking our proud and brave Veterans to Washington D.C. to see the various memorials that honors the bravery, dedication and unselfish service that they both women and men applied toward the efforts of World War Two, Korea and Vietnam. VFW Post 10212 members Osvaldo "Ozzy" Perez (USMC) shown above along with Post member Emilio Iglesias (USA) supported the operation as they escorted their assigned Veterans to and from on a trip of a life for the many Veterans who participated. VFW Post 10212 continuous being a relevant force for the Veterans within our community and for the community at large. VFW Post 10212 members are individuals who make a difference and contribute in a sense of giving back to those who came before us.

VFW Post 10212 Remembers 4th Regiment, 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, Charlie Company First Battle In Vietnam 50th Anniversary Which Occurred On May 15th 1967

Charlie Company operated within the Mekong Delta and moved about on World War Two era landing crafts that were up armored and called Armed Transport Carriers (ATC) on such ATC used was ship number ATC-T92-4

The men of Charlie Company two main modes of insertion into battle was either by helicopter and or by ATC via the many water ways that made up the Mekong Delta of Vietnam

With a mission patrol area of 4,000 square miles of water way and 15,500 square miles of dense jungle and rice paddies U.S. forces were on Search and Destroy mode for well over 82,000 enemy solider of the Viet Cong (VC) that operated and were embedded in the area

The men of Charlie Company lived and operated out of U.S. Navy barracks ships which after missions and battles they would revert back to the ships which made up the Mobile Rivernine Forces. Base Camp for Charlie Company was out of Dong Tam 

VFW Post 10212 Reports: May 15th marks the 50th Anniversary of U.S. Army Charlie Company from the 4th Regiment, 47th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division first ever battle in Vietnam on May 15th 1967 and the members of VFW Post 10212 remembers those who served and paid the ultimate price for our nation. What made Charlie Company a one of kind was that the men of Charlie Company were the last of the U.S. Army to have been drafted, trained and served in combat together. From Fort Riley in Kansas to seeing action in the Mekong Delta with IV Corp., Charlie Company was truly one of the last true band of brothers
Charlie Company was formed in May 1966 at Fort Riley, Kansas and was mainly made up 99% draftees representing all parts of our nation and was one of the largest draft call up of the Vietnam War. Being part of the U.S Army 9th Infantry Division they were know as 'Old Reliable" a moniker that was obtained from their valiant service in World War Two
Training for Charlie Company at Fort Riley finished in December 1966 and on January 10th 1967 Charlie Company consisting of 160 men left San Francisco, California on board a World War Two era transport ship for Vietnam and within three weeks time they were in Nam.
Charlie Company first battle engagement occurred on May 15th 1967 and of which saw the lost of their first man Don "Bug" Peterson dying on that significant date of May 15th 1967.
In January 1968, Charlie Company headed back to the "Real World" home and out of the original 160 members who depart a year earlier, Charlie Company had 26 killed and 105 wounded. VFW Post 10212 remembers those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, those wounded and those who proudly served. May God bless them and their families.

VFW Post 10212 Reports: With ceremony being held at VFW Post 4127 located down in Homestead, Florida Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) belonging to Florida District Five (5), VFW Post 10212 Sergeant at Arms Mr. Osvaldo "Ozzy" Perez (USMC) was sworn in as District Five (5) Commander. Ozzy was accompanied and supported by many of his VFW Post 10212 Brothers. VFW Post 10212 is constantly charging forward and being relevant within the VFW organization and its local community. VFW Post 10212 is proud to have one of it own honorable and dedicate member such Ozzy lead District Five (5). Semper Fi Ozzy!

VFW Post 10212 Reports: Thursday May 4th 2017 was a busy operational night for the men of VFW Post 10212 as Post members were dispatched to many different high schools within Miami-Dade so as to support the many Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. (JROTC) award ceremony events. Much like the detachment that was sent to attend and support the G. Holmes Braddock High School Navy (JROTC) event, VFW Post 10212 Command, Mr. Marco Gorrin (USAF) and Post Sergeant at Arm, Mr. Oswaldo "Ozzy" Perez (USMC) headed to support the event at Miami Southwest Senior High School in presenting various awards and making the presence of the VFW and VFW Post 10212 known onto the community.

With Post Commander Mr. Marco Gorrin (USAF) recruiting four U.S. Army Active Duty Recruiters in the the last two day (5th and 6th May 2017) these new additions has placed VFW Post 10212 with 205 fully paid members for a percentile of 106.80% thus placing 
VFW Post 10212 in a stand of 21 out of 35 in their division for 
"All American Post Honor"

VFW Post 10212 Members Attended And Supported The G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School 24th Annual Navy Jr. ROTC Award Ceremony And Change Of Command

VFW Post-10212 Reports: Proud remembers of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10212 were in attendance and supported the twenty-forth annual G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. (NJROTC) award ceremony and cadet staff change of command. NJROTC at 'Braddock" is led by Captain Juan J. Fernandez, USMC (Ret.) and Navy Counselor First Class Petty Officer (NC1) Johnny Martinez, USN (Ret.). The "Braddock" NJROTC Unit was stood up in 1994 and they have ever since strive for excellence and perfection and since then have been recognized with numerous awards, recognition and accolades. With many such planned and scheduled events on the night of Thursday May 4th 2017, VFW Post 10212 along with members from the American Legion Post 346 were spread all over Miami-Dade attending and supporting similar events at other schools and banquet halls. The unit that was dispatched to support the "Braddock" High School event consisted of the following VFW Post 10212 members, they were:

1. Mr. Eduardo Lombard (USMC)
2. Mr. Luis Lalama (USA)
3. Mr. Benny Benitez (USN)
4. Mr. Gene Gotay (USN)
5. Mr. Jeffery Wander (USA & USAF)

A job well done to the the men above for proudly representing the VFW and VFW Post 10212, as well as the other VFW and American Legion Brothers who covered the other similar events that night.

VFW Post 10212 Starts A Trend Within Miami-Dade County With More U.S. Flag "Top Off's" At Yet Another Construction Site of New High Rise Buildings

VFW Post-10212 Reports: VFW Post 10212 has appeared to have started a trend within Miami-Dade with yet another U.S. Flag "Top Off" at additional active building construction site. With a boom in new high rise building construction within Miami-Dade and with VFW Post 10212 Commander, Mr. Marco Gorrin being an established and respected building inspector, VFW Post 10212 has become known to many building construction companies. VFW Post 10212 has take the lead to promote and spread U.S. Patriotism among the many construction companies who are currently active within Miami-Dade and who's owners as well as many of their work force members being proud U.S. Veterans has allowed VFW Post 10212 to encourage, promote and execute many U.S. Flag "Top Off's" in downtown Miami. This new trend in which has been established by VFW Post 10212 is being noticed by all who live and work within Miami-Dade with the sight of our nation flag proudly flying within the Miami skyline which is constantly growing.
